In 2006 an ecology study was carried out and over 155 birds were identified at Bradbourne Lakes, some visiting, some full time residents such as the ducks. The more interesting specimens were the Egyptian Goose (Alopochen Aegyptiacus). Pale head and chest with dark eye patch and pink legs. A large relative of the shelduck, the Egyptian Goose is an ornamental species. Originally from Africa, it was introduced to this country three centuries ago and is mainly found in East Anglia.

This six-acre Nature Trail is a haven for wildlife. The woodland setting is an area of old nursery land, previously used for growing specimen trees. Pushchair and wheelchair accessible lead you through a variety of woodland and meadow habitats populated by a wealth of wildlife and birds, as well as our own animals including wallabies, goats, rare-breed pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks and geese. Great place to bring a picnic, with bird hides, lots of nature info, pond, and wigwams.

Druidstone Wildlife Park

Visit around Easter time and you’ll be astounded by the breath-taking display of bluebells in the woodland. Summer brings the budleja (butterfly tree) into full glorious flower. During autumn you can discover the woodland fungi and winter buds, whilst throughout the year rhododendrons, conifers and other well established shrubs and trees make the park a delight to visit. The farmyard animals, including chickens, sheep, goats, llamas, ponies, a donkey and the naughty pigs are always keen to say ‘hello’.

One of the UK’s largest bird of prey centres, currently we have a collection of approximately 150 raptors. This includes over 50 species, many of which are now breeding at the centre or can be seen flying in our daily demonstrations. The centre provides sanctuary for wild, injured raptors and regularly release rehabilitated birds back to the wild. We opened the centre in 1996, initially with around 30 birds. Our exciting displays and wonderful surroundings soon became popular and the centre rapidly expanded, now housing between 150 – 200 birds at any one time. We also have a Reptile House, Huskies, Meerkats, Coati Mundi, Ponies and more! Facilities at the centre include a Tearoom serving both hot and cold food. Indoor and outdoor aviaries, a large indoor lecture room, large flying arena, play area and shop. The centre is fully accessible to the Disabled.
Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre

Foal Farm welcomes families and there is a tea shop on site with plenty of picnic tables in order for you to eat al fresco if the sun shines! Foal Farm Animal Rescue centre is a registered charity based at Biggin Hill. Its aim is to take in as many sick and unwanted animals as possible and restore them to health and happiness. Horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and geese spend their natural lives at Foal Farm. Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals are always loving homes.

Howletts The Aspinall Wild Animal Park

Howletts is now home to 456 animals and 51 individual species. The park is a safe and pleasant place to visit all year round. Woodland covers a large area of the park which includes mostly ash and poplar tress over a layer of hawthorn, sallow and elder. A wild flower meadow nestles around the woodland, scrub and grassland and is glorious to see in the summer months. A small area of wetland can be found in a hollow behind a timber rain shelter in the shallow water on the water’s edge. There is an exciting timber adventure playground suitable for five to 12 year olds, a toddler play area, a picnic area, and short woodland walks for all the family to enjoy.
