The Big Day Out is back for its second outing at Mote Park, Maidstone this summer!

The family festival is taking place on Saturday, July 1. Unlike many festivals, small children are definitely not an afterthought at this event. At the Big Day Out the focus is on pop acts, dancing and plenty of activities to keep them happy and smiling.

The line-up

CBeebies’ fabulous Mr Bloom will be performing in the early afternoon, while Bing Bunny and Flop and Paw Patrol’s Marshall and Chase will appear at intervals throughout the day. There will also be singing and stories from well-loved fairytale princesses and action-packed fun from popular superhero characters.

Other activities include a drumming mayhem, bouncy castles, slides and obstacles, circus skills, pony rides and giant bubbles.

Headlining on the main stage will be X-Factor star Louisa Johnson, who will perform a mix of her popular hits and unreleased music. She’ll be supported by Atomic Kitten, Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity, X-Factor runners-up Reggie ‘n’ Bollie, and tribute band Supreme Queen.

What’s new

There are a couple of changes to the festival this year that should offer added value to families.

Firstly, the Kids Zone Character Area will be under cover, so that little ones can meet their favourite television characters even if the weather turns sour.

Secondly, picnics will be permitted on site this year – woohoo! Alcohol will still need to be purchased at the festival bar, but parents should at least save a small fortune on lunch, snacks, and more snacks.

Tickets cost £29.50 for adults, £12.00 for kids aged 5-15 years and £1.00 for under 5s. Family tickets are £62 (2+1) or £74 (2+2) and all tickets are subject to booking fees.
